Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest Update
Written by Sims Delaney-Potthoff
Friday, 23 July 2010 17:01

Hello Wail friends and Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest Fans,

New news in Wail world.  We have made a deal with Arts Wisconsin.   We can now accept donations and grants from public agencies, corporations, foundations and individuals, and provide

tax-exempt status,

on behalf of Wisconsin arts.

This includes both the MGSF and H Wail.  In our ongoing pursuit of opportunities to get the music to the ears of our fans - and hopefully gain new friends - the Wail is always ready to accept financial help for any of the Wail projects.  And as stated earlier, the Festival could not be possible with out your help.  So this means you can deduct your sponsorship at the end of the year and know that the Wail can claim it as a tax exempt contribution.  We have a win-win (except for our uncle, Sam).  Not to worry , we pay plenty of taxes here in Wail world.

All the info for the tax exempt sponsorship can be found at
http://www.midwestgypsyswingfest.com

Hello Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest friends, fans, sponsors and supporters,

One more time I want you all to know how thankful I am for your support, sponsorship, attendance, enthusiasm, and love of the Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest and Harmonious Wail.  Really, we couldn’t / wouldn’t be here with out you.

It is becoming clear to me that the new music business model is coming closer to home, more DIY (do-it-yourself) and much more immediate.  Musicians, bands and music festivals are becoming much more involved directly with their fans.  As I am writing for grants and corporate sponsors (I do have a 501 c3 available), I want to ask each of you for financial support.  The dedication I have to keep this festival going strong is the same level of commitment I have to keep The Wail focused, healthy and available to you, the music lovers of the world.  Without you we would be hard pressed to find true art and integrity in the music world and festival scene and to tell you the truth The Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest would see a very questionable future.

Enclosed please find the 2010 sponsorship letter.  Please take a moment and either
1)    write a check and pop it in the post
2)    call me at 608-658-6988 with credit card info
3)    go to www.midwestgypsyswingfest.com under the sponsor tab

As an added incentive (be sure to check out the benefits on the enclosed sponsorship sheet) I will add a complete set of Harmonious Wail CD’s (6 of them) plus a recording of the Feb 2008 Midwinter Festival for sponsorships at the $1,000 level.

Thank You Sincerely and Harmoniously,
Sims

Take one barn, add an exceptional venue of artists, committed volunteers and generous donors and you have an emerging tradition in Fitchburg, Wisconsin –     the seventh annual Midwest Gypsy Swing Festival. –August 20 and 21, 2010.
We need your financial support to keep it going.
Mission and Background
In 2001, a small group of volunteers set out to make available world class musicians at an affordable ticket price. This mission continues.

The Midwest Gypsy Swing Festival sets a high standard for performing arts in the unique and welcoming atmosphere of Anne and Bill Conzemius’ beautifully restored 1870’s barn. Anne and Bill’s hospitality and the caliber of performers and visual arts on display have brought folks back again and again.

In the past seven years, the Isthmus has consistently chosen The Midwest Gypsy Swing Festival / Art in the Barn as a Critic’s Choice.  Additionally, Midwest Gypsy Swing Festival and Art in the Barn have garnered positive press from the Fitchburg Star, the Verona Press and the Capitol Times, Broadjam.com and too many email lists to name.

Budget
The budget for 2010 is estimated at $13,000 - 80% goes directly to the performers, all of whom have graciously reduced their customary fees. Individual and corporate sponsorships and an all-volunteer staff allow us to keep our overhead low. Our goal is to raise $7,000 to underwrite the fall Gypsy Swing Festival performances and gallery exhibits.  This will help to keep the cost of tickets at an affordable price. Your generous contribution will help us maintain the ability to bring in the high quality performers we have brought to the barn year after year.  In addition it will help us promote the season through our brochure, posters and press releases and of course to provide peanuts for our patrons.

Donor Recognition
By confirming your contribution soon, we will have plenty of time to meet the deadline for recognition of your support in our Midwest Gypsy Swing Festival 2010 mailings, emailing and press releases. These professionally designed brochures and press releases are distributed to our mailing list, which currently reaches close to 5000 supporters throughout Dane County. Additionally, we have included a list of sponsorship levels and recognition opportunities.

If you have questions or would like additional information, please call
Sims Delaney-Potthoff at 608-658-6988    or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Midwest Gypsy Swing Festival LLC is in the process of obtaining non-profit status.
We hope you’ll join us in 2010! Thank you for your consideration.

Hello Wail Friends,
I hope this note finds you all groovin in to a summer of great music and fun.  Here in Wail world things are always cooking and we are all geared up for travels and tours.  For starters, tomorrow in Sturgeon Bay, WI we are very excited to be part of The Harmony by the Bay Concert Series.  Great line up this year and Tuesday June 29 is the kick-off.  Martin Park in Sturgeon Bay WI at 7pm.  920-493-5979 for more info or of coarse www.wail.com/gigs.
I am up to my eyeballs managing the upcoming Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest. One very important item I want to bring up.  My main sponsor has "drifted away" and I am putting it on the table. In a very real and sincere DIY effort I am asking Wail fans and Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest fans to become sponsors. This is a wonderful festival and now more than ever it (and we) need your financial support.  Please try and meet one of the higher levels of sponsorship and you will . --- be forever in my highest esteem (more than you already are) and be a very real sponsor and supporter of great art.
