Hello music lovers,
It is time once again for Harmonious Wail’s annual Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest. Boy oh boy are we getting excited. The hardest thing about hosting such an enduring and magical festival is the pressure to keep making every year better than the last. Well we write today to tell you to worry not — 2018 is going to be our most epic MGSF yet!
Check out this year’s stellar line-up:
• Harmonious Wail (of course!)
• Robin Nolan Trio
• Paquito and Sandro Lorier
• UltraFaux/Hot Club of Baltimore
• Alfonso Ponticelli and Swing Gitan
• Luke Hendon Project
You know we live in weird times when our favorite international musicians — who have been traveling in and out of the US without issue for decades — need special visas and government permission to join us at this year’s MGSF. But the good folks at DjangoFest connected us with their great gypsy swing loving attorneys at McCown and Evans and they helped ensure that this year’s fest would proceed without a hitch!
With the weather being what it’s been, we figured we’d take no changes this year: all primary performances will take place in a swanky 40 x 80-foot tent. The barn will be reserved for the bar, as well as a special bar/barn stage with musical happy hours and drink specials.
If you are interested in a very special up-close seat and/or would like to talk about becoming a partner – (like a sponsorship but waaaay friendlier) – drop Sims a line at firstname.lastname@example.org We’d love to have you join Team MGSF!
Since we’re songwriters, we turned those last two paragraphs into a little jingle.
If the tix are too dear — volunteer. It you gots the dough — please sponsor the show!
We love you and can’t wait to celebrate another MGSF together.
Paquito Lorier is the composer of the tune ‘Paquito’, which became very well known through the rendition of Ninine Garcia. Paquito Lorier is a sinto from the region of Alsace, in France. In hIS music he combines Django Reinhardt with Paco de Lucia. He forms a very strong duo with his (at the making of this video) 23 year old son Sandro. This was filmed in and around Strasbourg, France.
